New Executive Chef Brings Modern Mexican Cuisine to Life with Fresh Farm Ingredients and a Southwestern Flair

Hugos Restaurant Y Tequila Bar announced Chef Alberto Carreno as the restaurant’s new executive chef. Hugos located at 300 South Lamar serves modern Mexican cuisine with a Southwestern twist in a fresh dining environment.

Chef Alberto Carreno brings to Hugos more than 10 years experience from some of the finest U.S. restaurants, including Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bistro.

Over the previous months Chef Carreno has worked alongside Chef Tyler Johnson to revamp the entire Hugos’ menu, now serving unique cuisine options such as Mexican Street Corn Wraps, Duck Cigars, Shrimp Cocktail Shooters, Chorizo Spiced Corn Ribeye, Potato Flautas, Cuatro Leches Cake and more.

"I believe in creating beautifully presented dishes incorporating locally grown produce and raw ingredients from the South Texas region," said Chef Carreno, "Our local farmers and ranchers offer some of the freshest ingredients andI’m excited to share this with our customers."

Its upscale bar offers a collection of over 85+ tequilas, 25+ beers and unique drink infusions. Located at 300 South Lamar in the heart of Austin near the Zach Scott Theatre, Hugos offers free parking in the centers attached garage and outdoor patio seating. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 4p.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
