The Original Celebration of Texas Craft Beer Returns October 6

2012 Texas Craft Brewers Festival to Showcase the Newest,
Boldest, Best Texas Brews in Austin this October

On Saturday, October 6, 2012, the Texas Craft Brewers Festival, a non-profit outdoor festival, and the oldest and largest annual celebration of Texas craft beer, returns to Fiesta Gardens in Austin to deliver the best Texas craft brewers have to offer. The event will highlight innovative and special releases, new and seasonal offerings, and rare tappings from established and newly launched breweries operating across the State.
Produced by the Young Men’s Business League of Austin, with support from members of the Texas Craft Brewers Guild, the festival benefits Austin Sunshine Camps, a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing mentorship, education and personal development for economically disadvantaged girls and boys throughout Central Texas.
"Texas has great craft beer...
...and now we have a great festival to match,” says Texas Craft Brewers Festival Chairman Brian Peters.
“Last year, we had 4,000 beer lovers show up and support the ‘little guys.’ This year will be even bigger and better with dozens of Texas breweries participating.”
The Texas Craft Brewers Festival launched in 2003 with under ten brewers and brewpubs participating. Keeping pace with the national trend, the number of brewers in Texas has risen to 78 actively licensed, and another 61 in planning, according to the Brewers Association, a national organization of independent craft brewers. While Texas brewpubs are prohibited from participating in festivals within the state due to current state laws, production brewers will be pouring the best Texas-brewed lagers and ales, with live music, local food vendors, beer education sessions, and food and beer pairing events providing perfect accompaniment.
A Must-Attend for Texas Craft Beer Enthusiasts
Among the brewers providing essential support in making the Festival happen are lead sponsors Saint Arnold Brewing Co. and Real Ale Brewing Co., both now ranked as top-five domestic craft brewers within the Brewers Associations’ Southern Region category. Joining those breweries are festival support sponsors the Texas Craft Brewers Guild, Rahr Brewing Co., social-sharing app Beergram, The Country Malt Group, Live Oak Brewing Co., Independence Brewing Co., (512) Brewing Co., Wasabi Creative and Jack Martin & Associates.
A must-attend for Texas craft beer enthusiasts, the festival represents the year’s premier social gathering for a supportive and enthusiastic craft beer community that has the nation buzzing.
“The rest of the country is talking about the Texas craft beer movement,” enthuses Peters, himself a career brewer launching a new brewpub, Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co. “Come be a part of it.”
