CultureMap Announces 2nd Annual Tastemaker Award Nominees



Last night at a ceremony and celebration at the Driskill Hotel, CultureMap Austin
announced its second annual CultureMap Tastemaker Awards benefiting the Austin Food and
Wine Alliance and recognizing the achievements of the areaʼs top restaurants, chefs, bartenders
and brewers.

“In only its second year, the CultureMap Tastemaker Awards have become a respected and
highly anticipated food event in Austin,” said CultureMap Marketing Director, Veronica Castelo.
“We take great pride in celebrating Austin's outstanding culinary and cocktail culture.”

A panel of 12 highly respected Central Texas culinary experts selected the nominees and each
will submit their final ballots to accounting firm Maxwell, Locke and Ritter for tabulation. Judges
include: Devon Broglie - Whole Foods Market; Adam Bryan – Midnight Cowboy bar; Marla
Camp - Edible Austin; Cathy Cochran-Lewis - Whole Foods Market and Austin Food and Wine
Alliance; Paula Disbrowe - Southern Living; Jessica Dupuy – CultureMap Food and Drink Editor;
Marshall Jones - Wine and Food Foundation of Texas; Matt McGinnis - What Are You Drinking,
CultureMap, Austin Man; Mary Margaret Pack - Austin Chronicle and Personal Chef; Pat Sharpe
- Texas Monthly; Cathy Strange - Whole Foods Market; and Tom Thornton - The Austinist Food.

The CultureMap Tastemaker Awards will be announced at a foodie event like no other on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Driskill Hotel in downtown Austin at 7:00 p.m. Attendees will have a rare opportunity to mingle with many of the nominees while sampling food and local spirits from the cityʼs top restaurants and vendors. The evening will culminate in a highly anticipated awards program honoring Austinʼs acclaimed 2013 CultureMap Tastemakers in the following categories: Restaurant, Chef, Pastry Chef, Brewery, Craft Bartender and Sommelier/Beverage Director.
