Premium flights are always eligible for Happy Hour pricing of 25% off, Fridays 5-9pm.

2006 Amalie Robert, Dijon Clones
Oregon / Willamette Valley
The 2006 Dijon Clones Pinot Noir is true to the soil and true to the vintage. Aromas of crushed wild raspberries, rose petals and nutmeg introduce a palate rich with Montmorency cherries and Oregon strawberries. The core of sweet fruit and underbrush is punctuated with dried lavender and cocoa.
90 POINTS, WINE ENTHUSIAST

2009 Sanglier
California / Russian River Valley
On the nose, notes of dried thyme, rhubarb, root beer, smoky bacon, Aromas of roasted coffee, dried flowers, forest floor and raspberry jam rise from the glass as the wine opens up. On the palate there are generous flavors of strawberry and bing cherry followed by hints of black tea and warm spice.  The mid-palate and finish are long and lingering framed nicely by balanced tannins and acidity. This wine will drink wonderfully over the next few years and really comes alive when decanted and given some time to breathe.

2007 Kenneth Volk, Sierra Madre
California / Santa Maria Valley
Lovely scents of red fruits, roses and spice box which carry over in the flavor profile. Loaded with charm, the fruit is vivid and focused. The finish has remarkable persistence.

Uncle Billy’s Welcomes New Brew Master Michael Waters at Barton Springs Location

Changes are a-brewing at Austin’s favorite Barton Springs spot for handcrafted, award-winning beers. Uncle Billy’s Brew & ’Que welcomes new Brew Master Michael Waters, who recently joined the renowned brewpub and will assume all brewing responsibilities at the Barton Springs location.

A Florida native who made the move to Texas in 2001, Waters is a passionate and clever suds devotee who turned an established home-brewing addiction into an accomplished and respectable career in the world of beer. Upon relocating to Austin in 2009, he joined much-loved local brewer Independence Brewing Company. By 2011, he was named head brewer at Independence, introduced a new series of limited and seasonal beers, and brought an elevated level of quality to all products, as well as increasing productivity and winning a coveted Good Food Award.

Waters is drawn to and excels at creating hop-forward beers and Belgian-inspired beers, styles that remain popular with Uncle Billy’s patrons. As brew master, Waters plans to continue offering Uncle Billy’s favorites like the Axe Handle Pale Ale, the Hell In Keller and the Hop Zombie IPA. But he also intends to add some creativity when brewing up local libations, while paying homage to the established brewing philosophy of Uncle Billy’s.

“I plan to carry on the beer philosophies, theories and outlook of Uncle Billy’s, hopefully continuing to make great beers while adding my signature brewer’s touch to them,” Waters says.  “I’m really looking forward to having an opportunity to be more creative and make better and better beer.”

Uncle Billy’s Brew & ’Que is located at 1530 Barton Springs Road. Offering a casual, Austin-style setting, stellar Texas barbecue and a selection of award-winning beer handcrafted from scratch on the premises, Uncle Billy’s is open and serving its distinguished beers every day. For more information about Uncle Billy’s impressive beer menu or new Brew Master Michael Waters, call (512) 476-0100 or visit www.UncleBillys.com.

Fort Worth, Texas

Grand Cru
5500 Overton Ridge Blvd, Suite 222
Fort Worth, Texas 76132
817-361-9999

FRIDAY - SATURDAY - SUNDAY
This Week's PREMIUM FLIGHT:
PRIORAT

Enjoy a 2-oz pour of all three of these very special Spanish reds for only $23 (a value of over $39!) until they run out.

2006  Mas Alta La Creu Alta Priorat
Bottle: $99.99
Dense color with purple disk. The noise is very racy, sophisticated, and characteristic of very old vineyard's wine. Mineral notes, with subtle aromas of liquorice, spices and fresh herbs of Priorat. Powerful tannins, filling up the smooth with freshness and noteworthy long on the palate. Very expressive wine, among the bests of Spain's terroir. 60% Carinena and 40% Garnacha from vines over 100 years of age.

2008 Terra de Verema Triumvirat
Bottle: $36.99
The 2008 Terra de Verema Triumvirat is made by Ester Nin, vineyard manager of Clos Erasmus. It is a blend of 90% Carinena, 5% Garnacha, and 5% Syrah aged for 12 months in French oak. Dark ruby-colored with an already complex bouquet of pepper, Asian spices, mineral, and black cherry, on the palate it is supple, suave bordering on opulent, succulent, and very long. It can be approached now but will be more expressive with another 2-3 years of bottle age.
94 POINTS, ROBERT PARKER'S WINE ADVOCATE

2005 Merum Priorati Osmin
Bottle: $59.99
(EXTREMELY LIMITED QUANTITIES)
The 2005 Osmin is 42% Garnacha, 25% Carinena, with the balance Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot which was aged in new French oak for 12 months. It is purple in color with a superb bouquet of pain grille, slate, pencil lead, blueberry, and blackberry. Ripe, concentrated, and full-flavored, this is a relatively forward Priorat. Drink now through 2020.

Fonda San Miguel to Host Exclusive Con’ Olio Pairing Dinner Featuring Author Tom Mueller August 25th

Fonda San Miguel to Host Exclusive Con’ Olio Pairing Dinner Featuring Author Tom Mueller:
Menu Includes Delectable Five-Course Meal Paired with a
Selection of Fine Olive Oils and Vinegars

Fonda San Miguel, Austin’s premier dining establishment for interior Mexican cuisine, is serving up liquid gold. The beloved restaurant, known for its authentic Mexican recipes and colorful, gallery-style setting, is partnering with Con’ Olio, Austin’s only locally owned olive oil and balsamic vinegar retail store and tasting bar, for an exclusive, one-time-only pairing dinner Aug. 25 at 7:30 p.m.

This special dinner event ($85 per person, including wine, tax and gratuity) will treat guests to a five-course chef-prepared meal paired with five specially selected Con’ Olio extra virgin olive oils and vinegars, and wines selected by Fonda San Miguel Sommelier Brad Sharp. Con’ Olio owner and olive-oil expert Jeff Conarko will be on hand to discuss with guests each dinner pairing. Additionally, diners will receive a post-event Con’ Olio gift bag featuring 60-milliliter bottles of vinegar and olive oil — referred to by the Greeks as “liquid gold” — as well as a copy of the evening’s pairing menu.

The event will also feature author Tom Mueller, who will be in attendance to discuss his book, “Extra Virginity: The Sublime & Scandalous World of Olive Oil.” Mueller will regale guests with the fascinating history of olive oil, examine the debate about the best way to taste the condiment (swirl, aerate, spit or just swig?) and break down the intricacies of the global trade and olive oil’s fraudulent black market.

Prior to serving each course, 200-milliliter bottles of Con’ Olio oils and vinegars will be placed on each table so guests may sample as much or as little as desired with each dish. The dinner’s first course features a Whitefish Ceviche with tomatoes and avocado, paired with an Arbequina extra virgin olive oil, a delicate but peppery Chilean oil with hints of creamy avocado and a rich, buttery aroma. The second course includes Fonda’s decadent Lobster Ceviche with mangos and tomatoes, paired perfectly with Con’ Olio’s Blood Orange extra virgin olive oil, a citrus oil made by crushing Tunisian blood oranges with Chetoui and Chemlali olives to produce a uniquely tangy orange flavor. A refreshing salad of mango, radish, cucumber, carrot and strawberries follows, paired with a choice of raspberry or strawberry vinegar and Chemlali olive oil, a mild and fruity oil with a delicate pepper finish. The fourth course features Fonda’s Pescadero, whitefish served with tomatoes, capers, onions and white rice, paired with a Frantoio extra virgin olive oil, a complex oil with creamy characteristics, sweet, slightly floral notes and a peppery finish. For dessert, Fonda will prepare its decadent Churros fried in Natural Butter olive oil, a creamy Australian oil made with crushed Barnea olives that resembles liquid butter, and served with a chocolate ganache sauce.

Seating for this special dinner event is extremely limited, as Fonda San Miguel will reserve only seven event tables, including one VIP table. Reservations are required, and guests are asked to purchase tickets through Eventbrite.com.

Fonda San Miguel, located at 2330 W. North Loop, is widely recognized as one of the finest interior Mexican restaurants in the country. For more information about Fonda San Miguel and the special Con’ Olio pairing dinner, please call (512) 459-4121, or visit www.FondaSanMiguel.com.

This Sunday 8/19: SOUL KITCHEN. Soul Music + Soul Food + Soul Cinema Helping the Needy

Introducing... SOUL KITCHEN!
Help the Needy via
Soul Music + Soul Food + Soul Cinema

Soul Kitchen: FRIDAY FOSTER
Sun, Aug 19 @ Ritz  BUY TICKETS

Featuring a foot-stomping live soul jazz preshow set by Black Red Black and a dinner crafted by Nubian Queen Lola, proprietor of the restaurant bearing her name. A portion of the proceeds go to Nubian Queen Lola's ongoing effort to feed the homeless.

We've been hunting for a way to present classic soul cinema in a format that shows as much respect to the form as we feel it deserves. The classic blaxploitation era was an explosion of talent and entertainment like few we've ever seen. FRIDAY FOSTER brings together an all-star cast of great African American stars, led by Pam Grier (who has never looked more beautiful) as globetrotting photographer Friday Foster. When she witnesses an assassination attempt against "the richest black man in America", she gets involved in a web on intrigue and sepia glamor. With Yaphet Kotto as her dashing boyfriend, Eartha Kitt, Scatman Crothers, Godfrey Cambridge, Carl Weathers and many others. It should tell you a lot about this film that the pimp character is played as a ludicrous stooge, who Friday outwits at every turn. Fast-paced, loose-jointed, and hilarious - FRIDAY FOSTER is an unsung classic of soul cinema. (Lars)

The Menu:
- CRAWFISH ETOUFFEE
- with GUMBO
- and BREAD PUDDING for Dessert
Vegetarian Option available upon request.

The Original Celebration of Texas Craft Beer Returns October 6

2012 Texas Craft Brewers Festival to Showcase the Newest,
Boldest, Best Texas Brews in Austin this October

On Saturday, October 6, 2012, the Texas Craft Brewers Festival, a non-profit outdoor festival, and the oldest and largest annual celebration of Texas craft beer, returns to Fiesta Gardens in Austin to deliver the best Texas craft brewers have to offer. The event will highlight innovative and special releases, new and seasonal offerings, and rare tappings from established and newly launched breweries operating across the State.
Produced by the Young Men’s Business League of Austin, with support from members of the Texas Craft Brewers Guild, the festival benefits Austin Sunshine Camps, a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing mentorship, education and personal development for economically disadvantaged girls and boys throughout Central Texas.
"Texas has great craft beer...
...and now we have a great festival to match,” says Texas Craft Brewers Festival Chairman Brian Peters.
“Last year, we had 4,000 beer lovers show up and support the ‘little guys.’ This year will be even bigger and better with dozens of Texas breweries participating.”
The Texas Craft Brewers Festival launched in 2003 with under ten brewers and brewpubs participating. Keeping pace with the national trend, the number of brewers in Texas has risen to 78 actively licensed, and another 61 in planning, according to the Brewers Association, a national organization of independent craft brewers. While Texas brewpubs are prohibited from participating in festivals within the state due to current state laws, production brewers will be pouring the best Texas-brewed lagers and ales, with live music, local food vendors, beer education sessions, and food and beer pairing events providing perfect accompaniment.
A Must-Attend for Texas Craft Beer Enthusiasts
Among the brewers providing essential support in making the Festival happen are lead sponsors Saint Arnold Brewing Co. and Real Ale Brewing Co., both now ranked as top-five domestic craft brewers within the Brewers Associations’ Southern Region category. Joining those breweries are festival support sponsors the Texas Craft Brewers Guild, Rahr Brewing Co., social-sharing app Beergram, The Country Malt Group, Live Oak Brewing Co., Independence Brewing Co., (512) Brewing Co., Wasabi Creative and Jack Martin & Associates.
A must-attend for Texas craft beer enthusiasts, the festival represents the year’s premier social gathering for a supportive and enthusiastic craft beer community that has the nation buzzing.
“The rest of the country is talking about the Texas craft beer movement,” enthuses Peters, himself a career brewer launching a new brewpub, Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co. “Come be a part of it.”

Tickets to the festival are on sale now, with both general admission ($20) and VIP admission ($65) options available. Visit the Texas Craft Brewers Festival web site for complete details.
WHEN: Saturday, October 6, 2012, from 2-8 pm (noon entry for VIP ticket holders)
WHERE: Fiesta Gardens, 2101 Jesse E. Segovia Street, Austin, TX
