Traditional Texas Brisket Dry Rub

Here is a recipe for a traditional Texas dry rub for briskets.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup paprika
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons oregano
  • 2 tablespoons salt

Directions

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Work into the surface of the brisket, especially over the exposed meat. This rub may be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.

Yields 1 1/2 cups of rub.

I use a plastic dredge shaker to apply the rub.
