olive & june, the neighborhood Southern Italian eatery by chef and restaurateur Shawn Cirkiel, will be hosting olive & junefirst, a one-time brunch benefiting the Sustainable Food Center on Sunday, June 1 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Guests will nosh on seasonally inspired passed appetizers before being seated for a family-style brunch similar in format to the restaurant’s wildly popular Sunday Dinners, a recurring olive & june feature. olive & june’s concept intertwines the Italian premise of eating what grows well around you with inspired culinary vision utilizing fresh components, like pasta freshly made in-house daily, and quality ingredients sourced close to home. Accordingly, olive & junefirst is an apropos extension of Cirkiel’s commitment to locally sourced, sustainable food and partnership with the Sustainable Food Center. Tickets are $25 per person (suggested donation of $10 for kids) and proceeds will enable the center to expand educational programs, construct a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen, cultivate a 2.3 acre community garden and continue to break down barriers to fresh, nutritious and affordable food by supporting local family farms in Austin.
