La Sombra Bar & Grill New Hours for Late Night

Starting November 1, 2011, La Sombra Bar & Grill, with its Central and South American flair and cuisine, will stay open until midnight on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights to meet the late night demand in the area. To kick off the new extended hours, “Late Night” deals will also be available for patrons those nights from 10 p.m. – midnight, with Latin-inspired appetizers and drink specials. La Sombra, located at 4800 Burnet Road, Suite 200, will offer patrons from the Rosedale and surrounding neighborhoods new late night options as they continue to seek more diversity for entertainment in the area.

“We are excited about all the late night activity that establishments here in the Lo-Burn IBIZ District are experiencing. The shaded patio, comfortable lounge area, Latin beats, and full bar make La Sombra a fun neighborhood destination,” commented managing partner, Cameron Lockley.

La Sombra Bar & Grill will still be available for private rental on Mondays, and now available for private lunch parties during the week. After catering several successful events in the Austin community, the owners plan to expand those operations. Executive Director Matt Hinsley of the Austin Classical Guitar Society had this to say about a recent dinner that La Sombra Bar & Grill catered for two hundred of the Society’s patrons, “It’s been such a pleasure in every way. I look forward to next time!” In order to focus on the new Late Night program and catering operations, the restaurant will discontinue its lunch service during the week.

Revised hours and offerings include:
Happy Hour Tuesday – Sunday from 4pm to 7pm with ½ priced appetizers, $2 off classic and signature cocktails, $2 off wines by the glass, and $1 off beers

Live Music Thursdays from 8pm with local Latin artists like house favorite, Cienfuegos

Late Night Happy Hour Thursday – Saturday from 10pm to midnight with $2 off classic and signature cocktails, $2 off wines by the glass, and $1 off beers

Weekend Brunch Sat – Sun 11am to 3pm with $3 cava mimosas, pisco bellinis, and bloody marys, and signature dishes like poached eggs with juan caina sauce

Sunday Supper Sundays from 5pm with ½ off all bottles of wine

During the Late Night specials and extended hours, all appetizers and cebiches will be available to order. Guests can enjoy several snacks, including any of La Sombra’s three savory empanadas – braised beef, chicken & green chile, or potato, guasacaca – a Venezuelan style guacamole served with delectable corn arepas and plantain chips, yuca frita – fried cheese filled yuca with a creamy Peruvian yellow pepper sauce, and chicharrones – crispy pork belly served with crunchy plantain cakes late into the night. And, more late night menu options are in the works.
La Sombra is also making some additions to its beverage list with new signature drinks and beers. The "Portonero" cocktail is made with a premium Peruvian Pisco called Pisco Porton, muddled lime and ginger, cane sugar, aromatic bitters, and a splash of gingerale. The Portonero cocktail, as well as the Buenos Aires Martini - made with Primo Vodka from Argentina, fresh lime juice, cane sugar, and floated with Malbec wine - will be added to their every day cocktail menu next week and have already become customer favorites. La Sombra is also expanding its beer selection to include Cerveza Imperial from Costa Rica, Dos Equis from Mexico, Famosa from Guatemala, and Port Royal from Honduras.

The restaurant will also focus on enhancing its popular dinner menu with unique offerings and global wine list, offered in a modern Latin American ambiance. La Sombra is open Tuesday – Sunday with dinner served nightly from 5 pm; Happy Hour Tuesday – Sunday from 4 – 7 p.m.; Late Night Thursday – Saturday from 10 pm to Midnight; and Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 3 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Mondays.
