THE FOOD EXPERIMENTS RETURNS TO AUSTIN ON MARCH 10, 2013 FOR THE AUSTIN SMOKE EXPERIMENT!

On the heels of a successful 15-city tour in 2012, the Food Experiments, the nation’s leading cook-off organization, is returning to Austin with an unforgettable afternoon of food, fun and beer, courtesy of partner and sponsor Brooklyn Brewery. Over the past two years, we have seen pork and taco-themed creations from Austin’s finest home chefs; this time, competitors must incorporate the most iconic of culinary traditions from the Lone Star State, SMOKE! The Austin Smoke Experiment will take place on March 10, 2013 at Clive Bar from 1-4PM.

Dishes will range from traditional smoked meats to smoked vegetables, smoked desserts and
whatever else inventive Austin chefs can dream up - let the Experimenting begin!

Since their inception, the Food Experiments competitions have been met with sold-out crowds,
including last year’s Austin Taco Experiment. The Smoke Experiment judging panel will consist of
Addie Broyles, food writer at the Austin American-Statesman, Aaron and Stacy Franklin of the
acclaimed Franklin BBQ, Virginia Wood, food editor at The Austin Chronicle, Claudia Alarcon, food
writer at The Austin Chronicle and Zagat.com and the new executive chef of Brooklyn Brewery.
Winners will be competing for Cookware, Bakeware, Knives, and Cash! Sponsors include Brooklyn
Brewery, Le Creuset, Anolon, Wusthof Knives, Microplane and Chameleon Cold Brew Coffee!

The Experiment will host 25 local amateur chefs who have prepared aunique creation incorporating smoke into their dish. Samples will be served to the 350 food enthusiasts in attendance as well as celebrity judges, and everyone will then have an opportunity to choose which “cheftestant” will gain the ultimate culinary bragging rights. Victory has never tasted so good!
